Robert Francis: Honesty is the best policy

At only 21 years old, LA based singer Robert Francis is readying his major label debut, Before Nightfall, which comes out, Oct. 13th digitally (via Itunes) and everywhere else October 20th on Atlantic records. Francis is a guy who wears his heart on his sleeve, and on the new LP which follows up his '07 indie release 'One By One', which detailed the emotional chaos he endured after a failed relationship, this time around 'Before Nightfall' takes a look back on that break-up through the the glimmer of hope that appears in starting over and moving on to something new. The album has an earthy and mature quality to it, which could be due to his earnest song writing, and his drawing on a variety of influences from Americana and folk, to blues, and rock.
Calling his new work the soundtrack to everything he's gone through, Francis also says ... “Honesty is what makes a good song,” ... “I don’t think there’s a reason to write unless you’re writing about something that’s deeply important to you. If I write anything, it has to be 100 percent heartfelt. There’s not a shred of anything within my songs that isn’t 100 percent genuine.”
One of the highlights of the new album is the Dylanesque, fragile track, "Nightfall."
