The Pains of Being Pure at Heart: New single & Summer tour

N.Y. popsters, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart recently announced plans for a new single called "Say No to Love" which will come out digitally this June 8th on Slumberland records. The band is also set to embark on a 2week U.S. tour this summer with supporting acts Surfer Blood and Hooray for Earth.

In other band news, the Pains are planning the recording of their sophomore LP, the follow-up to last year's critically acclaimed self-titled debut.

Here's what Kip from the band had to say in a message from the group ..."In many ways, "Say No to Love" is pretty Pains-by-numbers. It's got 3 chords, a fuzz pedal and lots of feelings. But instead of recording in the basement like we did for our album and both EPs, we recorded in an actual studio (Stratosphere Sound in New York). We tried hard to make it sound, as Peggy would say, "life affirming" and we're pretty excited about how it turned out. We hope you are too.

Pains of Being Pure at Heart on tour:
06/03 Milford, CT Daniel Street
06/04 Rochester, NY The German House
06/05 Buffalo, NY The Tralf
06/06 Cleveland, OH Beachland Ballroom
06/08 Memphis, TN Hi Tone Cafe
06/09 Birmingham, AL Bottletree Cafe
06/10 Tallahassee, FL The Engine Room
06/11 Orlando, FL Club at Firestone
06/12 Miami, FL Grand Central - Poplife 11
06/13 Jacksonville, FL Jack Rabbits
06/15 Carrboro, NC Cat's Cradle
06/16 Washington, DC Black Cat
All shows w/ Surfer Blood & Hooray for Earth

'Song of the Week'- The Black Keys- "Tighten Up"

I'm admittedly not the biggest Black Keys fan, but the bands lead single "Tighten Up" off their forthcoming LP, Brothers, has been on heavy repeat lately on the iPod. The track has some extra groove to it, thanks to Danger Mouse who produced the song.
The new disc follows up 2008's 'Attack & Release', and will hit stores this May 18 on Nonesuch Records.
