Members of Magnolia Electric Co. & Centro-matic team-up for new project

Two of the most heralded indie-folk songwriters of the last decade or so, Will Johnson of Centro-matic, and Jason Molina of Magnolia Electric Co., are teaming up for a new project, aptly titled Molina and Johnson. As the story goes Johnson approached Molina at the merch table following a Magnolia Electric Co. show in Texas of September 2007, and within a week the pair had already begun to talk about a collaboration. Five months later the two were ready to start recording in Denton, TX ...."We were basically ready," Johnson said. "For ten days we wrote, co-wrote, workshopped, complimented, scrutinized, drank, invited friends to come play music, smoked, made lots of notes and drawings, drank a little more and shot the BB gun off the back porch when we just needed some time and space. In the throes of all this, our record was made in the late February sun."

Molina and Johnson will be available on Secretly Canadian November 3 in the US, and November 2 in the UK.
