The National: add some select Spring dates

One of my personal favorites, The National have just announced that they will be embarking on a brief US/Canadian tour this coming May, which will include the band showcasing some new material they have been working on. The group who's tour schedule was relentless ever since their fantastic disc, Boxer dropped in early 2007, recently took a break at years end to head into the studio to start work on the follow up.
If you can't wait until May to hear some new tunes from the band, then you can pick up the charity compilation 'Dark Was The Night' this Tuesday, that guitarists Aaron & Bryce Dessner produced for the Red Hot Organization. The disc has an all star line-up of indie artists, but also features a new National track, as well as a new song featuring Aaron with Bon Iver. Also, if you live in the New York City area, you can catch the side project Clogs, which features Bryce and Aaron along with special guest vocalists, joining the Bell Orchestre (which features members of Arcade Fire) and the Brooklyn Philharmonic on Thursday Feb. 26th at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

The National tour dates:
21 May: Kool Haus, Toronto
22 May: Metropolis, Montreal
23 May: House of Blues, Boston
24 May: 9:30 Club, Washngtn DC
25 May: 9:30 Club, Washngtn DC
27 May: Variety Playhouse, Atlanta
28 May: Lincoln Theater, Raleigh, NC
29 May: Electric Factory, Philadelphia
