Stream Pickwick's Debut Full-Length, 'Can't Talk Medicine'

If the first 2 plus months of 2013 are any indication, this year will be remembered as the year that the album as a whole made a serious comeback. We're not talking about wow there's three-four really good songs on this disc, but man this thing is solid gold from start to finish. Keeping up that trend of outstanding long players is the new debut disc, Can’t Talk Medicine from Seattle, Wa. band Pickwick. The band is self releasing the album this March 12th, but for a limited time if you head on over to their souncloud page you can stream it before it's release.

'Song of the Week': Pickwick-"Blackout"

This weeks 'Song of the Week' comes from the Seattle, Wa. band Pickwick. Their song, "Blackout" is an oldie but a goodie, and I mean that in more ways than one. The track comes from their  March 2011 EP, Myths, Vol. 3, and it has an uptempo soulful, R&B vibe that would make Berry Gordy proud. I get the same feeling listening to Pickwick's music that I did the first time I heard the Afghan Whigs(who are an all-time favorite btw). Maybe a bad comparison because the bands sounds are vastly different, but I mean in the sense that they both are throwbacks and give a nod to the Motown sound without sounding like a ripoff, giving it a unique and updated spin all their own.
