Polica live on Jimmy Fallon 4/25/12
It's been a big week for bands from Minnesota, first Trampled by Turtles made their network television debut on Letterman this past Tuesday, and now the Channy Casselle led group Polica made their big debut on Jimmy Fallon last night. I just recently got turned on to this band from a friend, and apparently Polica has been catching a lot of buzz courtesy of high profile artists like Bon Iver, and most recently Jay-Z heaping praise on their debut disc, Give You the Ghost. The band performed "Leading to Death" off the new LP, watch below.

Trampled by Turtles on Letterman 4/24/12
I've been hearing a lot of talk about Minnesota band, Trampled By Turtles and their new disc, Stars and Satellites. Despite all the buzz I never really had the chance to sit down and give the band a proper listen. While flipping through the channels last night I caught the band making their network television debut on The Late Show w/ David Letterman where they performed the song, "Alone."
You can count me in on the hype, they were brilliant, watch below.

We Are Augustines: "Chapel Song" (live on Letterman)
It's no secret what a big fan I am of Brooklyn's, We Are Augustines. The band nailed down my Best album of 2011 spot last year with their fantastic and underrated LP, Rise Ye Sunken Ships. So I was pretty pumped up for the band to be getting some well deserved recognition last week, with their U.S. television debut on The Late Show w/ David Letterman, where they played a scorching version of the album track, "Chapel Song." Watch below, and be sure to check out the bands website for all their upcoming tour dates.

The Civil Wars perform "Poison & Wine" on David Letterman
The Civil Wars are another one of those bands that I've heard a lot about this year. I've seen their names in magazines, they've even been recommended by friends, but for some reason I never got a chance to sit down and listen to the duo. I happened to come across their appearance on The Late Show w/ David Letterman last night, and their jaw dropping performance is stuck in my head all morning. I know I'm going to be checking out a lot more of these guys. Watch the pair perform the song "Poison & Wine" from their debut album, Barton Hollow which is out now on Sensibility music.

The National (live on Jimmy Fallon)
Seemingly one of the hardest working bands in the business, The National have been at it nearly non stop since the release of 2007's Boxer. The band has toured the world over, and they just capped things off with a brilliant charity concert for the Red Hot organization benefitting Aids research at Radio City Music Hall in NYC this past Sunday. The event which was the companion to the charity album Dark Was The Nigh featured special guests ranging from David Byrne and Dirty Projectors, to Bon Iver and Feist. Also this past week the guys stopped by the new late Night w/ Jimmy Fallon show to perform the track "So Far Around The Bend" which was their contribution to the Dark Was The Night' LP.

Ra Ra Riot on The Late Show w/ David Letterman
Ra Ra Riot's debut disc The Rhumb Line came out to rave reviews from critics and fans alike this past August. Many have already begun talking about the LP on their 'best of' year end lists. The band from Upstate NY (Syracuse) brought their indie rock styling to the Late Show w/ David Letterman recently performing the track "Can You Tell". The band is about to wrap a run of dates in the US before heading over to the UK and Europe, and then returning to the States in Dec. for some more dates.

Elbow on Later w/ Jools Holland
Earlier this month Elbow took home the the Nationwide Mercury Prize, which is awarded for the best album in the UK and Ireland. The group had to beat out some pretty heavy competition, including Radiohead and The Last Shadow Puppets. To celebrate the big win the band made an appearance Tuesday night on the popular BBC2 chat & music show Later W/ Jools Holland.
